  • Advice on the coronavirus for school

    Fri 28 Feb 2020 S.Beckett

School is monitoring and following advice from Public Health England and is informed daily by the Department for Education.

The advice from the DfE is:

    • Schools should remain open and keep abreast of latest local, national and international news
    • schools should promote good hygiene, as normal, amongst all people within the school community, ensuring hands are washed regularly with soap and water
    • Antibacterial gel and soap are utilised within schools
    • Good hygiene regarding not touching eyes, nose and mouth with unwashed hands is promoted, as is washing hands every time the toilet is used, before eating and regularly at other times of the day
    • 'Catch it, bin it, kill it' is promoted when coughing and sneezing, so that tissues are used once and then disposed of
    • Cleaning regimes within schools use approved products and routines to ensure that areas are cleaned appropriately and thoroughly

This web address will direct you to a poster from Public Health England which is shared and displayed in school.

  • Saturday in Kolkata

    Sun 02 Feb 2020 S.Beckett

Saturday was a special day of celebration involving many schools from Kolkata that are supported by the Diocese of Derby. It was a giant sports day, along with a delicious meal and ice-cream - a rare treat for many!

Mrs Hunt was in charge of the parachute activity and it looks lots of fun.

Tomorrow will be a long journey back home to Chesterfield.

Mrs Hunt says she is looking forward to getting back to us, but will miss the many teachers and children she has met this past week.

Mrs Hunt says it has been another productive and exciting training day with the teachers. All enjoyed learning new activities and teaching strategies. In the afternoon we planned lessons  for our time in school again tomorrow which I’m really looking forward to. I’ve been and bought biscuits for 200 children to give them when I leave tomorrow. We’ll also try and learn the song that we learnt at Christ Church.

Mrs Hunt thought we would like this funny photograph of a goat, showing off in his football shirt!

Today, Mrs Hunt visited a fairly rural area, she said it was nice to get some fresh air as it is so polluted in Kolkata.
