Tuesday at Condover Hall

Another great day! All the children have been fantastic: eating well, joining in with all the activities and getting along so well. It has been so much fun for everyone.

Mrs Hunt says it has been another productive and exciting training day with the teachers. All enjoyed learning new activities and teaching strategies. In the afternoon we planned lessons  for our time in school again tomorrow which I’m really looking forward to. I’ve been and bought biscuits for 200 children to give them when I leave tomorrow. We’ll also try and learn the song that we learnt at Christ Church.

Mrs Hunt thought we would like this funny photograph of a goat, showing off in his football shirt!

Today, Mrs Hunt visited a fairly rural area, she said it was nice to get some fresh air as it is so polluted in Kolkata.

Today Mrs Hunt visited St Joseph's - our partner school - and taught them all lots of English words related to fruit. She enjoyed showing them the video of our school singing on her Ipad. Mrs Hunt said it made her a bit homesick!  She videoed the children singing which she will show when she gats back to us.  Mrs Hunt also went to visit some children in the school at Brace Bridge; it is built by tin sheeting under the flyover, with constant traffic overhead - and the vehicles in Kolkata like to toot their horns!. Mrs Hunt said it was very upsetting to see the conditions that children and their families were living in, she said it was like 'hell on Earth' and she shed a tear.

After a long flight, Mrs Hunt landed in India on Saturday morning. She is part of a team of 38 teachers and University students who are working as part of the partnership between the Derby Diocesan Board of Education and the Cathedral Relief Service in India, who aim to develop education for some of the poorest children in India.

On her first day, Saturday, she visited an Eco park, which had miniature versions of the seven wonders of the world.

On Sunday, she went to the morning service at the Cathedral and met the team at the Cathedral Relief Service to find out about their latest developments and priorities.

On Monday, she will be working with staff from local schools to work on aspects of teaching that they have requested.

I will keep you posted with all developments - and try to get some photos to you soon!
