SEND

At Christ Church C of E Primary, we are proud to be an inclusive school, welcoming children with a whole range of special qualities and natural talents.  Alongside these special  qualities, some children also have special educational needs and/or disabilities.

It is our pleasure to build on the special talents and interests of every child, so that they may persevere and tackle and overcome any barriers to their learning to the best of their ability.

Every teacher knows that they are responsible for ensuring every child thrives in their learning, and it is the responsibility of the SENCO and Headteacher to ensure that it happens.

Children with special educational needs and/or disabilities sometimes need an educational provision that is different to their peers. This is then documented in their Individual Education Plan and discussed with families each half-term to ensure we work together in partnership to aim for the best possible outcomes for your child.

In advance of any children with special educational needs and/or disabilities being admitted to school, we ensure we get to know and understand all that is required for them to have a successful transition to school life, and when needed, an enhanced transition package is arranged. For example, a child with autism may benefit from additional visits to the classroom and to meet their teachers; a child with physical disabilities will need us to liaise closely with medical professionals to put good provision in place for physiotherapy, etc.  More information is detailed in our accessibility plan in the policies section.
