Governors

Governing Body

 

Schools and Academies have a Governing Body who represent the public and stakeholders and have an active interest in the school.  Our Governing Body comprises of representatives from Trinity/Christ Church, staff, parents and the local authority. 

 

The duties of the Governing Body are to:

1. Ensure clarity of vision, ethos and strategic direction for the school.

2. Hold the headteacher to account for the educational performance of the school and its pupils.

3. verseeing the financial performance of the school and making sure its money is well spent.

The Governing Body is made up of ten members

  •  2 Foundation/ Ex-Officio Governor
  •  2 Parent Governors
  •  2 Staff Governors
  •  4 Trust Governors

Foundation Ex-Officio:

  • Rev. Jill Hancock
  • Mr. Ivor Leigh

The Foundation Ex-Officio is a member of the Local Governing Body by virtue of their office.

Parent Governors:

  • Mrs. Laura Dawson
  • Mr Frederich Steinhobel

Parent Governors are almost exclusively parents or carers of children at the academy.  They are normally elected by parents, but can be appointed by the Local Governing Body if not enough people stand for election when the position (s) is first advertised.

Staff Governors:

  • Mrs. Susan Davies-Beckett (Headteacher)
  • Mrs. Julie Kent

The Headteacher is a member of the Local Governing Body by virtue of their office.  Staff Governors are selected by election from teaching and support staff who are paid to work at the academy.

Trust Governors:

  • Mrs. Sue Whyld
  • Mrs. Clare Bingham (Chair of Governors)
  • Miss Catherine May
  • Mrs. Michelle Hunt

Trust Governors are people who in the opinion of the Local Governing Body have the skills required to contribute to the effective governance and success of the academy.

Clerk to Governors:

  • Second 2 none clerking service 

 

The Board of Governors hold Governing Body meetings at least every term, and sub-committee meetings (Curriculum and Resources Committee) meet a further three times a year.

Governors serve for a minimum of 4 years.
