Governors

Role of the Board of Governors

Schools and Academies have a Governing Body who represent the public and stakeholders and have an active interest in the school.

At Christ Church C. of E. Primary School our Governing Body comprises of representatives from Trinity/Christ Church, staff, parents and the local authority.  The duties of the Governing Body are to:

  • set strategic leadership direction, policies and objectives
  • oversee the financial management of the school in particular setting the school budget
  • appoint, challenge and support the headteacher in moving the school forward and ensuring every child gets the best possible education
  • hold the headteacher to account for the educational performance of the school and its pupils, and the performance management of staff.

Governors must have an interest in our children's future and be willing to contribute and make a difference.  They must act with integrity, objectivity and honesty and in the best interests of the school.
