Modern Foreign Languages

The modern foreign language taught at key stage 2 is FRENCH.

Mrs. Beckett is the MFL leader.

Children at key stage 2 learn how to have a simple conversation in French, and develop the ability to read, discuss and describe a range of experiences and events e.g their birthday, feelings, pets family, hobbies and food.

Children enjoy learning French rhymes, hearing stories in French and songs which serves to develop knowledge of phonics and the French alphabet, as well as developing clear articulation and correct pronunciation.

They also learn about the fascinating culture and beautiful geography of France, with the aim of inspiring them to visit and communicate with French locals when they are older.

Mr. French scheme of learning is used to support planning for French.
